DC Fast-Charge uses a 480 V AC input and requires specialized, high-powered equipment in both the charging station and the vehicle. It can provide an 80% battery charge or 60 to 100 miles of range in just 20-30 minutes, making it the preferred option at public charging stations along busy corridors. Note that plug-in hybrid vehicles typically lack fast charging capabilities. For daily driving, level 1 charging at home might suffice, but to cut charging time, consider a 240 V level 2 system. Studies show that level 2 chargers are slightly more energy-efficient than level 1, though savings vary depending on charge time.
